1.0  SUMMARY

MAKRAM is a utility program to generate LP20  translation  RAM  files.
MAKRAM commands are described in MAKRAM.HLP.

MAKRAM runs on all releases of TOPS-20.



2.0  EXTERNAL CHANGES

There are no external changes to MAKRAM for Release 4.



3.0  KNOWN BUGS AND DEFICIENCIES

As of this document, there are no known deficiencies or restrictions.



4.0  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


4.1  Files Needed to Run MAKRAM

MAKRAM consists of two files, MAKRAM.EXE and MAKRAM.HLP.


4.2  Instructions for Installing MAKRAM

Mount the tape labeled  Distribution  Tape  on  MTA0:   and  type  the
following commands:

     R DUMPER
     TAPE MTA0:
     REWIND
     DENSITY 1600-BPI
     SKIP 2
     RESTORE <*>MAKRAM.EXE (TO) SYS:*.*.-1
     REWIND

4.3  Files Needed to Build MAKRAM

MAKRAM is built from the following files:

     MAKRAM.MAC


4.4  Instructions for Building MAKRAM

Mount the tape labeled  Distribution  Tape  on  MTA0:   and  type  the
following commands:

     R DUMPER
     TAPE MTA0:
     REWIND
     DENSITY 1600-BPI
     SKIP 3
     RESTORE <*>*.*.* (TO) <self>*.*.*
     REWIND
     ^C
     SUBMIT MAKRAM.CTL/TIME/UNIQ:0/REST

5.0  INTERNAL CHANGES

Refer to MAKRAM.TCO for changes to MAKRAM.



6.0  SUGGESTIONS

The OUTPUT command must only be given after  all  other  commands  are
specified.   The OUTPUT file is written at the time the OUTPUT command
is given;  any commands given after the OUTPUT command will not appear
in the OUTPUT file.



7.0  EXAMPLES

The following example will generate the standard translation RAM files
LP96.RAM and LP64.RAM distributed with the system.

     @MAKRAM
     MAKRAM>LOWER-CASE (OUTPUT)
     MAKRAM>OUTPUT (TO RAM FILE) LP96.RAM
     MAKRAM>UPPER-CASE (OUTPUT ONLY)
     MAKRAM>OUTPUT (TO RAM FILE) LP64.RAM
