                                    SUMMARY


     1.0  SUMMARY

     TOPS-20 PSI GATEWAY Version 1.1 enables a suitably configured  TOPS-20
     system  in  a  DECnet  Phase  III  network to connect to Public Packet
     Switching Networks (PPSNs) that conform to CCITT  Recommendation  X.25
     (June  1980).   The Software Product Description (SPD 21.22.x) defines
     the names of the PPSNs that are currently supported by Version 1.1.

     TOPS-20 PSI GATEWAY consists of components that reside partly  in  the
     KL  central  processor  and  partly  in a DN20.  It requires DECnet-20
     Version 3.0 and TOPS-20 Version 5.1.

     3.0  KNOWN BUGS AND DEFICIENCIES

     See the TOPS-20 PSI Beware file PSI.BWR supplied on  the  distribution
     tape for documented known bugs and deficiencies.



     4.0  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

     The TOPS-20 PSI Installation  Guide  (AA-N819A-TM)  provides  detailed
     instructions for installation of all required components.  The PSI.BWR
     file  on  this  tape  and  the  DECNET20.BWR  file  on  the  DECnet-20
     Installation  tape  should  be  read  carefully  before  performing an
     installation.



     5.0  INTERNAL CHANGES

     5.1  Bug Fixes

     Bugs reported for the following programs  and  software  modules  were
     fixed in this release:

           o  DN20 Network Management
           o  TOPS-20 Network Management
           o  OPR/NCP
           o  X29SRV
           o  MACRO-20 Gateway Access Library

     Other bugs, which were reported but were not fixed, are  described  in

     5.2  Unsupported Tools

     The X29PAD program has been improved with new features and bug  fixes.
     There  is  a  new unsupported tool XMR, which provides the DECnet/X.25
     Poor Man's Routing facility for the TOPS-20 system.



     6.0  SUGGESTIONS

     Read  the  TOPS-20  PSI  Beware  file  PSI.BWR  before  starting   the
     installation,  since it contains important changes to the installation
     procedure.
