INTRODUCTION 18 Feb 83

1.0 INTRODUCTION

This document describes the procedures for building and running the
program X29TRP. This is an unsupported tool that provides a facility
to trap and reject unwanted X.29 incoming calls.

2.0 INSTALLATION INFORMATION

2.1 Inventory

The program is supplied as source files in the PS:<TOOLS> saveset of
the TOPS-20 PSI Version 1.0 distribution tape. The files are:

      o X29TRP.BNF
      o X29TRP.CTL
      o X29TRP.MAC
      o X29TRP.MEM
      o X29TRP.RNO

2.2 Utilities

You need the following software utilities to build the software

      o MACRO-20 Assembler
o CREF Macro Cross Reference program
o COMGEN (included in the TOPS-20 PSI tape)

2.3 Assembling And Linking

Submit the file X29TRP.CTL to assemble the MACRO source file and to
build the executable image file.

     $SUBMIT X29TRP.CTL <RET>

2.4 Network Management Information

Edit the grammar file X29TRP.BNF which contains the template of the
NCP commands. Supply the appropriate values of your DECnet network
configuration for the first three parameters:

     <GATEWAY NODE NAME>
     <DECSYSTEM-20 NODE NAME>
     <DECSYSTEM-20 NODE NUMBER>

Run the COMGEN program to produce the command file which will be
processed by NCP to set up the Network Management information in the
TOPS-20 PSI gateway node

     $COMGEN <RET>
     *SYSTEM:X29TRP.CMD=X29TRP <RET>
     [Grammar produced 12 products]
     EXIT
     $

Edit the command file X29TRP.CMD to add any appropriate X25-SERVER
parameters that you wish to use to invalidate the X.29 incoming calls.
See the DECnet-20 System Manager's Guide for more information about
the module X25-SERVER parameters.

3.0 USAGE

3.1 Installing X29TRP

Edit the following commands into the PTYCON.ATO file:

     ^X
     DEFINE ^$TRAP
     CONNECT TRAP
     LOGIN OPERATOR
     ENABLE
     OPR
     TAKE SYSTEM:X29TRP.CMD
     X29TRP

If you choose to create an entry for the destination TRAP in the
module X25-SERVER data base at network generation time, you may omit
the command file X29TRP.CMD.

The next time you boot the system, the trap (program X29TRP) is set up
to intercept unwanted X.29 incoming calls.

3.2 Reject Notice

You may choose to inform the user the reason the incoming call is
rejected. The text of the notice should be stored in the file
SYSTEM:X29REJ.TXT. The text may be of any length.

If the file SYSTEM:X29REJ.TXT exists, the incoming call is accepted,
the text is sent to the terminal and the circuit is cleared. Thus the
user will be able to view the entire notice, yet unable to log into
the host system.

Otherwise, the incoming call is cleared immediately.
